Privacy Policy
Effective date: July 20, 2026
This page is a plain-language privacy policy for Teo. It is provided for transparency and should be reviewed by counsel before relying on it as legal advice.
1. Overview
Teo is a bring-your-own-key (BYOK) AI assistant for Android. It runs on your device, authenticates you with Google sign-in, and, only when you ask it to, can back up and restore its own files in your Google Drive, run AI workflows and sub-agents, build code, perform web research, and use local Google AI Edge Gallery models when they are available on your device. Teo does not run its own AI models; AI actions are performed by the model provider whose key you configure.
2. Information we collect and process
Depending on how you use Teo, it may process:
- Google account information: basic profile details made available through Google sign-in, such as name, email address, and profile identifier.
- Google Drive data (only files Teo creates): Teo uses the
drive.filescope, a per-file permission that grants access only to files the app itself creates: the workflows, documents, and code projects it saves to a dedicated “Teo Workspace” folder for backup and restore. Teo cannot see or access any of your other Google Drive files. - App settings stored on your device: preferences, connected model-provider configuration, workflow definitions, tasks, and feature toggles.
- Workflow content: prompts, tasks, sub-agent instructions, and generated outputs you choose to create.
- Bring-your-own-key provider data: the API keys or tokens you connect for third-party AI providers. These are stored in your device’s encrypted storage and used only to make requests you initiate.
- Local model availability signals: information indicating whether compatible local models (including Google AI Edge Gallery models) are available on your device.
- Diagnostics: crash logs, device metadata, and performance information used to keep the app reliable.
3. How we use information
- To authenticate you with Google sign-in.
- To back up and restore Teo’s own workflows, documents, and code projects to your Google Drive when you choose to.
- To operate AI workflows, tasks, sub-agent coordination, code building, and web research.
- To route work to local models or to the BYOK AI provider you configured.
- To save your preferences on your device and to keep the app reliable and secure.
4. Google Drive access (drive.file only)
Teo requests only the non-sensitive drive.file scope. This is per-file access limited to files created by Teo: its “Teo Workspace” backup folder and the workflow, document, and project files it writes there. Teo does not request access to your existing Drive files, your email, or any other Google data. Drive content Teo creates is stored in your own Google Drive, under your control, and is never sold, used for advertising, or used to train any AI model.
5. Limited Use compliance
Teo’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We do not use, share, or transfer Google user data to develop, improve, or train any generalized artificial intelligence or machine learning models.
6. AI providers and BYOK
If you connect your own model-provider key, Teo sends the content you choose to act on to that provider when you run a cloud-backed AI action. Those providers process data under their own terms and privacy policies, and you are responsible for reviewing them. Teo does not send your Google account data to any AI provider.
7. Local models
When compatible local models are detected, Teo can use them for supported tasks. Local processing can reduce the need to send content to a remote provider, but some features may still require Google authentication or a user-selected BYOK provider.
8. Sharing
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use Google user data for advertising. Files Teo creates in your Drive stay in your Drive. Content you choose to process with AI is sent only to the provider you configured, to fulfill your request. We do not otherwise share your data with third parties, except as required for security, to comply with the law, or with your consent.
9. Data retention
Teo does not operate servers that store your content. Your app settings, connected keys, workflows, documents, and code projects are stored locally on your device and remain under your control; you can delete them in the app or by uninstalling Teo. Backups Teo creates live in your own Google Drive, which you control. You may revoke Teo’s access to your Google account at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
10. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect information, including storing connected provider keys in your device’s encrypted storage. No system is perfectly secure, so avoid entering highly sensitive information into workflows unless you understand the risks and the providers involved.
11. Children
Teo is not intended for children under 13 or the minimum age required in your region. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
12. Your choices
- You choose whether to connect Google Drive, and you can decline the permission during Google sign-in.
- You choose whether to connect BYOK providers and whether to use available local models.
- You can revoke Teo’s Google access at any time via your Google Account permissions.
- You can delete local data by clearing it in the app or uninstalling Teo, and you can contact us for questions about access, correction, or deletion.
13. Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If changes are material, we will update the effective date and may provide additional notice where appropriate.
